Near a month ago I told you about the name change in act for the GAIM project in the new PIDGIN one.
A couple of days ago the team has released the Pidgin 2.0.0beta7 the last in a long series of betas possibly anticipating a final release later this week. Before updating it’s reccomended to do a full backup of the .gaim preferences and settings directory.
Last night I had the time to install it on my Win32 machine, after having a look at the dedicated win32 project’s page and it has worked charmfully.
I also had the report that a dkpg -i pidgin.deb package installs fine on any gaim ready Ubuntu installation and probably tomorrow at work I’ll update it (if the boss leaves me the time
)
Have a look yourself how the new (tango) icons looks like:

the 2.0 release on Windows machine crashes a bit too often for my tastes … let’s hope in a quick update !
