Last 9th of january occurred the FITFH anniversary of iPhone announcement. I took the chance to watch (again) the keynote, as shown in the post.

    Two things caught my attention.

Steve charismatic presence on the stage.

How ugly and full of phisical buttons the state-of-the-art smartphone of that era were.

Five years later the touchscreen, gestures and multitouch have become a ‘commodity’ for any modern cellphone … even my mom’s Samsung that is worth ~60/70€ is a full touch one.

And what to say about the iTunes Store ??? The user experience browsing it’s catalogue, seeing details of each item, getting all the ones one can want is five years later still and exclusive of Apple. If you don’t belieme try installing RIM’s tool or Zune Desktop on your PC and browse those marketplaces…

In conclusion … watching the keynote remembered me why I’ve choosen the Apple way for my hardware and why competitors are still far away in terms of “vision”, user experience, and effectiveness. Apple makes items that work for us, that never makes you feel too ignorant to use them. Tech at user’s service, and not viceversa. And this to me seems still to be learned from many (Android in primis ???)
