Regardless of what method you choose, the trick is to make sure your expose to only a moderate level of background noise. Let your mind wander, but not too far, and take advantage of the creative boost of distracted focus.

Those static images comparing the actual early beta release of Apple’s iOS 7 compared to the 2+ years old Windows Phone User Interface are a little scary … but I’m sure that the actual (and final) release in live mode will be a different story.

In many ways, Apple’s keynote … had perfectly personified its culture and personality. In doing so, they have succeeded in not only creating the future, they’ve succeeded in becoming clearer at what they do, and who they are.

To paraphrase Ive, design is more than how it looks — it’s how everything works and plays together.

It makes the browser simply look bad, even if on my machines has never reached the size shown in the screenshot above (which gave also functional issues).

Today I’ve decided to put a stop on this and made a quick search. Seems that there’s a little bug that can be ‘solved’ pointing your browser to the configuration page available at

chrome://flags

and then disabling the "Enable Instant Extended API" variable (via →). Hope this helps somebody else!

Apple has set fire to iOS. Everything’s in flux. Those with the least to lose have the most to gain, because this fall, hundreds of millions of people will start demanding apps for a platform with thousands of old, stale players and not many new, nimble alternatives. If you want to enter a category that’s crowded on iOS 6, and you’re one of the few that exclusively targets iOS 7, your app can look better, work better, and be faster and cheaper to develop than most competing apps.

This is a pretty big deal, as it is probably the first step towards PCIe storage in a mainstream consumer device that we’ve seen. I’m still awaiting official confirmation as to whether or not this is an M.2 based solution or a proprietary connector. Update: It’s a custom Apple design, not M.2. Since there’s no PCIe routed off of the CPU in Haswell ULT, these 2 lanes come from the on-package PCH.

Personally I’m into wired iTunes backup – for a number of reasons – and having recently restored a 32GB iPhone 5 from a backup of my previous “old” 16GB one I can say that I had to insert again MANUALLY both usernames and passwords for the following apps:

• Twitter
• Dropbox
• Tumblr
• WordPress
• Pinterest
• Google+
• Netbot (only the password)
• Foursquare
• Felix
• Riposte
• Twiggy
• Waze
• Readability
• Reeder (only the password)
• Whisper

Also I had to re-authorize apps like Day One and iaWriter to take advantage of Dropbox’ sync.

What’s your experience with this aspect of living with iOS ???

On June 5^th the ipernity team has released a new, revamped iOS app for their social photography network. Network that is seeing a lot of activity from a certain Flickr users’ exodus after it’s recent redesign.

I’ve grabbed some screenshot of the app from my iPhone 5, and at the moment my only -and major- complaint is that the app supports the login only via ipernity username/password combo and not via any other login option, as provided on the web page. So if you haven’t one you have to create that following the instruction provided on the ipernity’s announcement post.

The Android app is coming in the next weeks, as for Windows Phone I do not have any clue. I’m going to ask to the staff…

So if you find your Facebook newsfeed full of inanity, start hiding. It’s easy. If you’re friends with a loudmouth, shut ‘em up. Simple. This isn’t magic. Facebook made it easy to hide for a reason — they know they won’t always get it right. One person can only read so many status updates in a single day. Make ‘em good.

As for Windows 8 and RT Microsoft wasn’t going to support calendar integration with CalDAV at all. Specifically, Microsoft said that it would be “a good time to simply switch to Outlook.com.” As for syncing with Google’s calender using Windows 8 or RT’s native calendaring apps, all Microsoft currently had to say was: “Unfortunately, with Google changing the way it supports EAS, your Google calendar can’t sync with the Calendar app.“

Now, in what looks like a tit-for-tat move, Google seems to be saying, “Well, if you won’t let your users use our calendaring functionality, we won’t provide an open way of doing it for anyone unless they ask very nicely with sugar on top.”

A Google representative has said that as far as they’re concerned Microsoft will still be able to implement CalDAV support on Windows Phone. Will Microsoft do it though? And, what about Windows 8? RT? We still don’t know.

Oh, come on! Google, Microsoft, get over it. CalDAV is a mature open technology that’s used by everyone. If you support it, everyone benefits. If you don’t, besides making it harder for Google users to work with Microsoft services, and vice-versa, you’re making it harder for everyone else to use your services.

So could everyone please just support CalDAV and make both users’ and programmers’ lives a little easier? Please!?
