I was in need to upload the maximum size of some attachments in my self hosted WordPress installation. I had 3 videos of an event my employee attended and moving the file manually in the /var/www/html/$MYSITE/wp-content/uploads/$YEAR/$MONTH directory didn’t help me since that way they are invisible to the WP Dashboard 😦

Since I run my own server I choose the php.ini editing way (in /etc) … all I had to do was to edit those two values:

upload_max_filesize

post_max_size

Another idea would be to add to top of your wp-config.php this value:

define(‘WP_MEMORY_LIMIT’, ’64M’);

… and that probably would be  better since it modifies just the WP installation without touching the rest of the system and the other CMS used in your server … When I’ll go “live” I’ll try this one and report here in case problems occours!
